IMG, the global events’ leader behind Taste of London, Taste of Paris, Frieze, and New York Fashion Week will roll out the inaugural Los Angeles Wine & Food Festival on the weekend of March 1–3, 2024, at 7.30–10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 12.30–3 p.m. on Sunday on the Santa Monica Pier. The event is staged in conjunction with Frieze Week Los Angeles (February 29 to March 3 at Santa Monica airport). Each day will feature walk-around tastings from a diverse group of favourite local standbys such as Holbox, Bé Ù, Chifa, Camphor, Pizzana, and Bridgetown Roti.

Along with Los Angeles-associated culinary headliners such as Andrew Zimmerman, Ben Ford, Alvin Cailan, Justin Pichetrungsi, and Natalia Vallejo, this update of the crowd-pleasing outdoor food festival features special side attractions such as themed tasting rooms (Punk Rock Room! Santa Monica and Skate Park Room!), an Artist Plate Project fundraiser, the presence of non-profit Regarding Her (Re:Her, a national non-profit dedicated to accelerating the growth of women entrepreneurs and leaders in food and beverage), and a line-up of all female local DJs, DJ Millie, DJ Orange Calderon, and DJs Mango & Ginger, creating a party-like atmosphere, as well as themed rooms throughout the space for attendees to explore.

Depending on your perspective, this event could be described as a food and arts’ theme park or a Coachella-ization of the traditional food festival. Either way, the inaugural event has the potential to add spice to an already zesty stew of food events Los Angeles is known for. This expression of the movable feast will be “coursed” like this:

• Chili Crunch Beef Noodles from Stephanie Izard of Girl & the Goat
• Cherrywood Smoked Pork Shoulder with Pickle Salad and Chiles from BBQ master Adam Perry Lang
• Kare-Kare Roast Beef Sandwich from Alvin Cailan
• Duck and Cherry Tart from Pasjoli

Saturday, March 2
• Salsa Macha Potatoes with Trout Roe from Claudette Zepeda
• Dungeness Crab-Leek Fonduta from Ben Ford
• Coconut Guanime with Crab Salmorejo from Natalia Valleja
